This is a thin and light wooden cup made of Japanese horse chestnut, finished on the potter's wheel and painted with brownish wipe lacquer.

Kasho-an does not usually produce CUPs with a wipe lacquer finish, only the COLORFUL series with a urethane coating.
However, in rare cases, there are some pieces that have "Knots" on the branches of the wood.
The knot pattern may be mixed in the finished wood.

This is an irregularity, but it is a product that is painted with lacquer to take advantage of the characteristics of the individual pieces. Of course, there is no problem for normal use.
The color of Urushi lacquer and the unique grain of horse chestnut (like a tiger's fur) appear beautifully on some pieces.

Tochi material is currently hard to obtain. Please try this rare wooden cup made of horse chestnut, which is light and pleasant to the palate.
