[The squares bring a richness of expression.]

This is a remake pendant light using an ashtray made by Aritayaki porcelain kiln [Shobu]. The square form, the first in the series, brings a fresh rhythm to the space.

By turning the installation angle 45 degrees, the impression can be changed to either a rhombus or a square, giving it a subtle sense of fun. Photographs 1-8 show the rotated form, while photographs 9-15 show the original orientation.

The hand-painted lines on the surface of the piece sway faintly, overlap, and give off a sense of warmth. These designs were created by craftsmen in an era when time was still moving slowly. Each piece of lighting quietly illuminates the richness of inefficiency that resides within each piece.
