Gohonte" is a type of kiln alteration in which fragments of pale spots appear when ceramic clay containing specific components is subjected to reduction firing. It is derived from Koryo tea bowls, which were fired from Azuchi-Momoyama to the early Edo period (1603-1868), when Japan sent "exemplars" to Korea to be fired.
