It is dyed by a traditional stencil dyeing method called chusen, and has no front and back. This is a series of patterns drawn by Eri Shimatsuka, a textile designer active mainly in Scandinavia, on the theme of "Folk Crafts of Miyako Island".
The name of the pattern [KASURI SHIMA] comes from the motifs of birds, nails, cow skins, pig feeders, etc., selected from the kasuri pattern of Miyako Kamifu, which has a meaning and name deeply rooted in the life of Miyako Island, and laid out in a striped pattern.
Two colors are available: [RED SOIL] (monochrome dyeing), which is inspired by the red soil of Okinawa, and [HIBISCUS] (gradation dyeing), which is named after the vivid hibiscus flower.
