This necklace is crafted from faceted glass, a traditional Tokyo craft akin to jewelry making.

The craftsmen meticulously finish each facet that contributes to its beautiful shine using the traditional technique of 'hand polishing.' This process maximizes the original glass high transparency and saturation.

The creation of the faceted design involves several steps, starting with 'wari-dashi,' where lines are horizontally and vertically inserted, followed by grinding with a whetstone, and finally, polishing with an abrasive. These precise cuts and polishing create a small world of approximately 2cm in length, showcasing remarkable craftsmanship and adding to the charm of this product.

The decoration incorporates a design inspired by the imagery of a "toshi-nawa'" (closing rope), wrapping the faceted piece with a covering ring.

    Design Symbolism:

Chrysanthemum Pattern: Symbolizing nobility, loftiness, longevity, warding off evil spirits, and mental and physical stability, the chrysanthemum pattern, associated with the imperial family, holds significance for the Japanese.

Octagonal Baskets: Known as "Kagome" since ancient times, these baskets are believed to symbolize eyes watching out for evil spirits, representing auspiciousness in repelling negativity.
