The long-awaited second volume of the [Hokusai manga]!
The second volume, "All Things in the Forest" contains illustrations depicting mainly nature, including animals, plants, landscapes such as famous places and scenic spots, and weather such as rain and wind.
It is divided into four categories: [Birds, Animals, Insects and Fish], [Mountains, Rivers, Plants and Trees], [Waves, Waves and Flowing Water], and [Creation of Heaven and Earth].
The book includes all kinds of creatures, mountains, rivers, plants, flowers, trees, landscapes, and scenic spots throughout Japan, including sea creatures, mountain creatures, rare animals such as elephants and tigers, and spirit beasts such as the tapir, which is said to eat dreams.
The book also includes Hokusai's depictions of water, rain, wind, and the transition from day to night, which are phenomena that cannot be seen by the naked eye.
The entire forest dances with Hokusai's brushstrokes, a must-see! Hokusai captures a moment and depicts it in an instant.
In his depiction of the waves, you get the sense that one moment later the waves are broken and gone, and in the shadows of the people in "Fugaku Sanjurokkei," you get the sense that the travelers will no longer be here the next moment. (Excerpt from an interview with Shiriagari Kotobuki)
