We have reissued the classic AN5740 Masteer Navigation Watch so that it can be used not only as a pocket watch but also as a wristwatch.
This navigation pocket watch was used by the U.S. Army and Navy during World War II.
The model name is [AN5740]. The [A] stands for ARMY and [N] for Navy. We have made a watch that can be enjoyed as both a wristwatch and a pocket watch by attaching a special case to this pocket watch. (Design registration pending)
Even today, there are pocket watches that are wrapped in a black cover and made into a wristwatch. However, they are inevitably large and bulky. The strap cover hides the form of the pocket watch and spoils the shape and atmosphere of the original pocket watch.
Welding the lugs on is a simple solution, but it is not a double pleasure for a pocket watch. This product can be enjoyed as a pocket watch or as a wristwatch.
Unlike the AN5740, which is in black and white, this is a reissue of a text version that is considered a "phantom" by some enthusiasts, as only a very small number of them exist. The black and white 24-hour dial is highly legible and intuitively recognizable, and the design of the dial is excellent, with a clear indication of the time in the morning and afternoon.
The watch has been resized (diameter reduced by 5mm to 46mm) to make it more suitable for wristwatch use. It has also been reissued as a battery-powered quartz watch. The large dial is easy to read, even for a 24-hour clock.
The B.J.B. on the dial is still not known exactly. [Some believe that it is a reference to a strategic bombing unit called the Berlin Japan Bomber.
