This rectangular dish is made by applying a roof tile manufacturing process.
It is baked at an extreme temperature (1,120°C), which is higher than the conventional roof tile manufacturing process, to form a smoked film and reduce water absorption, making it more practical.

Koizumi Seigawara

The name "Kikusada" was initially adopted as a trade name by Sadakichi Koizumi, the fifth generation of Koizumi Seigawara, a tile manufacturer with a heritage spanning ten generations. Today, the brand name "Kikusada" represents the craftsmanship accumulated by Koizumi Seigawara over the past ten generations.

The Gazen series of tableware also leverages the same tile-making technology, but in this case, the water absorbency is minimized by baking the tableware at an extremely high temperature, forming an oxidized film.
