This rectangular dish is made by applying a roof tile manufacturing process.
It is baked at an extreme temperature (1,120 degrees Celsius), which is higher than the conventional roof tile manufacturing process, to form a smoky film and reduce water absorption, making it more practical.

The name "Kikusada" was initially adopted as a trade name by Sadakichi Koizumi, the fifth generation of Koizumi Seigawara, a tile manufacturer with a heritage spanning ten generations. Today, the brand name "Kikusada" represents the craftsmanship accumulated by Koizumi Seigawara over the past ten generations.
