NARADOLLHIGASHIDA's Kazari Hiina series embodies its origin in the pleasure of decoration and arrangement. The simplicity of its basic colors and appearance exudes an elegant cuteness, inspired by the image of pure white.
NARADOLLHIGASHIDA prides itself on being entirely handmade, employing the Nara Itto-bori technique. This method, named after the soul infused into each sword, involves bold carving of wood from a large tree and delicate coloring using Japanese paints and gold leaf.
Originating 800 years ago in Nara, Nara Itto-bori carving became an art form during the Edo period under master craftsman Morikawa Toen. Renowned Japanese sculptor Hirakushi Tanaka greatly admired Toen's work, amassing a collection of Nara Itto-bori carvings.
NARADOLLHIGASHIDA meticulously reexamines Nara Itto-bori carving, aiming to revive its original form integrated into people's daily lives, harmonizing it with modern design sensibilities.
