[Kutani ware, blue grains and plum lights]

This pendant light is made from an ashtray using the Aochibu (blue grains) technique, which is a symbol of Kutani Yaki.
The countless grains are painted one by one, which is a very patient decoration. Soft plum blossoms are interspersed among them.

The contrast between the glossy deep blue and the flowers on the white background is beautiful, and when lit, a gentle light envelops the room.
The closer one looks at the three-dimensionality and texture of the design, the more one appreciates it, and traces of careful handwork can be seen here and there.

While having a Japanese flavor, this lamp also has a somewhat modern impression.
It is a light that only Kutani Yaki can provide, and it will gently fit in with a quiet space.

[Development Background and Methods]
In recent years, the number of unused ceramic ashtrays has been increasing due to the decline in smoking rates and restrictions on indoor smoking. Ashtrays have regional designs and high craft value, and were once used as tools for entertaining guests.
Soilo remakes these ashtrays with "minimal processing" to reuse them by simply drilling holes and attaching a light fixture. This method has the advantage of reducing the environmental impact, utilizing the original design, and keeping the price low.
