[Development Background and Methods]
In recent years, the number of unused ceramic ashtrays has been increasing due to the decline in smoking rates and restrictions on indoor smoking. Ashtrays have regional designs and high craft value, and were once used as tools for entertaining guests.
Soilo remakes these ashtrays with "minimal processing" to reuse them by simply drilling holes and attaching a light fixture. This method has the advantage of reducing the environmental impact, utilizing the original design, and keeping the price low.

NATSUKO MIYAKOSHI"Hikaru Kogin" and "Hikaru Kogin Production Kit" utilize Aomori's Kogin Sashimi patterns.
Kimono upcycled accessories and objects, known as Souzouka, use old kimonos as materials and apply the techniques of Tsumazaiku.
We manufacture and sell modern artworks, accessories, and table lamps that incorporate traditional Japanese techniques.
Commitment to our products:- Kogin that glows long ago, when farmers were only allowed to wear hemp.
- In the extremely cold winters of Aomori, people began stitching rough hemp, filling in the holes with threads to make their clothes last longer and keep warm as much as possible.
- The Kogin-Sashi table lamp features the pattern (modoko) of Kogin-Sashi, a traditional Aomori handicraft, cut out.
- The shade is made of warm high-quality paper, and the wooden frame is crafted from Aomori hiba. The wooden frame is assembled, and the pattern is hand-cut.
Souzouka Kimonos are filled with many memories, but they now lie in chests, no longer wearable.
SOUZOUKA unravels these kimonos, cuts them into small pieces, and crafts accessories or objects by hand.
Using the technique of tsumazaiku (a traditional Japanese craft of kneading), each flower petal is carefully made by hand.
