Kawase Bessui (1883-1957) was a printmaker active from the Taisho era to the Showa era. He created more than 600 woodblock prints while sketching all over Japan and loved traveling.
His beautiful landscapes full of Japanese sentiment are now attracting renewed attention not only in Japan but also abroad.
It is said that Steve Jobs was so fascinated by Tomoe's works that he owned 25 of them.
[Tomoe has been called a "traveling poet," a "traveling printmaker," and the "Hiroshige of the Showa era.
