In recent years, Saul Leiter has been highly acclaimed both in Japan and around the world.
Among his works, "Street Photography," in which he captures the city and its people in a casual manner, as if blending into the Manhattan where he lived in his later years, is particularly captivating.
This book is the result of the "Slide Project," a digital archiving project organized by the Saul Writer Foundation, which is led by a couple who were close friends of Saul during his lifetime.

Saul Leiter
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1923, Saul Leiter was a pioneer in the field of pictorial color photography in the 1940s and worked as a photographer for famous fashion magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
In 2006, his first book [Early Color] was published by Steidel in Germany, and his talent for color photography, which he had already mastered in the late 1940s, was widely noticed.
He died in 2013. Since his death, exhibitions have been held in museums around the world, and numerous books of his photographs have been published, including "All About Saul Leiter" (Seigensha).
Margit Erb
Founder and director of the Saul Leiter Foundation, Margit Erb worked as Leiter's agent at the Howard Greenberg Gallery from 1996 until his death in 2013.
She has edited all of Saul Leiter's books from his life to his death, including Early Color, In My Room (Steidel), and All About Saul Leiter.
She currently works with her husband and co-director, Michael Parrillo, to maintain the extensive archive stored in Leiter's studio in New York's East Village, which she used during her lifetime.
Michael Parillo
Michael Parillo is co-director of the Saul Writer Foundation. He joined the Foundation in 2015 after a 20-year career as an editor and music and lifestyle journalist.
[He has edited many books on writers, including "All About Saul Writer," "Fashion Eye: New York" (Louis Vuitton), and "In My Room.
He also served as executive producer of the short film [Seeing Is a Neglected Enterprise: The Saul Leiter Foundation](2016).
