    French artist Philippe Weisbecker's book is an exploration of 12 locations around Japan where he visited the makers of local toys related to the Chinese zodiac, written in drawings, essays, and photographs.

    Based on the serialization (October 2017-September 2018) of the monthly magazine Geijutsu Shincho (Shinchosha) and Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten's web media [Sanchi: Crafts and Exploration] (sanchi.jp), the book has been re-edited with additions and corrections.
    The volume is lavishly illustrated with valuable interview notes by Philip Weisbecker himself.

    Philippe Weisbecker
    Born in 1942. Artist based in Paris and Barcelona. He has been active in Japan in advertising and exhibitions.
    He stayed at Villa Kujoyama (Kyoto), an artist-in-residence program of the French government, for four months, and published a number of books including "HAND TOOLS," a collection of carpentry tools he created and painted, and "Philippe Weisbecker Works in progress," a compilation of his past activities. Weisbecker Works in progress], which is a compilation of his past activities.
