[Buships Watches] were special water-resistant wristwatches produced by Hamilton and Elgin in the 1940s and 1950s, developed and distributed to members of the ⽶Underwater Demolition Team (UDT), a special forces unit formed during WWII.
It was developed and distributed to the members of the UDT (Underwater Demolition Team), a special naval unit formed during WWII, and the UDT was the precursor to the United States Navy SEALs, the world's most famous special forces unit.
This item is a reissue of the Hamilton type with a cylindrical crown cap. We have reissued a very rare model with a dial and dial with a water pointer that changes color to indicate water or moisture intrusion.
This [water pointer] is often found on military watches for divers of this era, but it is very rare to find it used on a Buships watch. The circular water pointer at 6 o'clock on the Buships UDT Pointer dial is normally dark orange, but turns green when water enters the watch. When water enters the watch, it turns green. This water pointer was developed by M.R.M.W. over a period of two years using our original technology and has now been reissued.
The belt is a bellows extension belt.
