Asakura Setsu (1922-2014) is a painter and stage designer. Born in Tokyo. He did not go to school according to the policy of his father, Fumio Asakura, a sculptor, but learned from teachers of various fields who were invited to his mansion. He received the third Uemura Shoen Award for "The Worker. In 1972, he received the Kodansha Publication Culture Award (Picture Book Division) for "Switcho Neko" (Switcho Cat).
Jiro Obutsu (1897-1973) Novelist. Born in Yokohama, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Tokyo Imperial University in 1921. His representative works include "Kurama Tengu," "Ako Ronin," "Homecoming," "Paris Burns," and many other masterpieces. From the beginning of the Showa era (1926-1989), he produced "Kakubei Shishi" and "Yurei Sen" for boys and girls. He was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit in 1964. The Jiro Butsuri Memorial Hall is located in Harbor View Park overlooking the Port of Yokohama.
