It is dyed by a traditional stencil dyeing method called chusen, and has no front and back. This is a series of patterns drawn by Eri Shimatsuka, a textile designer active mainly in Scandinavia, on the theme of "folk crafts of Miyako Island".
The name of the pattern [UMU] is derived from the image of the process of twisting ramie, the raw material of Miyako Kamifu, into thin and long threads.
Two colors are available: [INDIGO] (monochrome dyeing), which is inspired by Ryukyu indigo, and [ORIGIN OF MIYAKO] (gradation dyeing), which is inspired by the origins of Miyako Island.
