The overwhelming lightness and softness are produced by careful knitting at a knitting factory in Iwate Prefecture.
It is useful not only for wrapping around your neck when it is chilly in winter, but also when traveling between cities with large temperature differences, or when you just want to throw it over your head on a chilly flight or in the car.
The delicately woven vertical ribs spread out when draped over the shoulders and shrink to a manageable width when wrapped around the neck.
This ribbing also prevents wrinkles from forming even when rolled up.
