This is a series of designs drawn by Eri Shimatsuka, a textile designer active mainly in Scandinavia, on the theme of "Folk Crafts of Miyako Island".

[UMU] was created from the image of the process of twisting ramie, the raw material of Miyako Kamifu, into long, thin threads (kenmu).
