Nekojitadou provides an opportunity to regain the joy of eating through cutlery developed by a group of friends who have experienced cancer. Through the community, we update the world with the new value of peer-made products (designed by friends who share the same problems and challenges) from the perspective of those who have been affected by cancer. To live life to the fullest in the everyday life that goes on forever.

Atsuo Shibata Atsuko Shibata
She has worked as a nurse for 24 years. 2014, she was diagnosed with parotid cancer (adenoid cystic carcinoma) and experienced surgery and chemoradiotherapy. Through these experiences, she realized the barrier of eating. She also learned that interaction with others in the same situation can be a source of support for living. She decided to start her own business to support the idea that "to live is to eat, and to eat is to live. I would like to update society with the values I have realized through my cancer experience.

Using glazes such as pink, blue, bronze, and sumi black, which were developed through glaze research, I create my work while expressing the warmth of the clay and the nostalgia I have felt on my travels in my vessels.

STYLE OF JAPAN is a "sustainable lacquered chopstick craft where people and nature coexist and prosper together.

Commitment to Our Products
Our products are Pure Japan Made chopsticks produced in the forests of Fukui Prefecture.
We use internationally certified PEFC-certified wood (thinned wood) produced in Fukui Prefecture as the material for our chopsticks, and all manufacturing processes are completed in the Wakasa lacquerware production area, which has a 400-year history and tradition.

Our aim is to connect the beautiful nature with human life and to balance the global environment with the future of manufacturing.
We are also trying to elevate the chopsticks, a symbol of Japanese culture, to the status of "Hashi", a globally accepted cutlery like MANGA.
Using the history and technology of a 400-year old traditional crafting center, we have added modern methods of expression and a new manufacturing system, and have also taken on the aspect of social design to solve the problem of global climate change through the familiar chopsticks.

Commitment to our products
Glass is a very mysterious material, like air, water, ice, stone, and light. We want to see more of the rich expression that glass creates with its form and light. I want to know more about it. I am continuing my research and production with this simple curiosity as a driving force.

Even if the same glass is used, the shape of the glass can be changed to a very different form depending on the conditions such as temperature, time, and arrangement when melting in a kiln, as well as the surrounding space, time of day, the way the sun or lighting shines, and the angle of view.

I have come to see it as a "bridge" between the visible (physical) world and the invisible (consciousness, unconsciousness, senses, etc.) world.

Myself and glass. Glass and glass. Glass and light. Light and light. Light and people. People and people. People and myself.

We hope that the things that emerge from such a chain of encounters will add light to the lives and livelihoods of those around us, including our own. I hope that the unique charm of each person will shine through.
