This is a copy of the peony design that appears on a postage stamp together with the bird dish.
Kutani Bitoen has been painting this dish as an Ko-Kutani copy for about 60 years.
The stamp was the first in a series of traditional crafts about 50 years ago.
Peony was the national flower of China during the Ming Dynasty, and it came to Japan along with the history of ceramics, and many peony flowers were painted in Kutani as well.
This is a very rare pattern that looks like a flower cut from the center.
In the past, "haha-tori" was more popular, but today, this modern peony is more popular.
It is painted by Yuzo Yamagishi, an artist selected for the Nitten and Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
Please note that there may be some iron powders or pinholes on the surface because it is handmade.
