We combined hojicha with the Kuromoji tree that grows wild in our tea garden. [Kuromoji] is a thin tree of the camphoraceae family, but in the world of tea, it is famous as a high-grade toothpick for sticking sweets.
It gives off a sweet smell. In the tea ceremony, it is customary to take the toothpicks home with you, but before it became customary, I think people simply wanted to take them home. Because it smells so good all the time.
I heard that it grows as an undergrowth of Japanese cedar and Japanese cypress, and it grows everywhere in our tea garden. We take its branches, dry them, and combine them with hojicha to make this flavored tea.
We still have a lot of kuromoji in terms of sales and harvest, but if it becomes too popular, it is inevitable that this flavor tea will become a limited-quantity product!
