Lacquer maki-e has a long tradition in Japan as a jewelry technique since ancient times, but nowadays there are fewer craftsmen who apply classical maki-e.
This maki-e technique is called taka-maki-e, which creates a three-dimensional effect in the design and makes the expression richer.
Small animals drawn with this technique give a little sense of reality, and may bring back childhood memories for adults who played with insect collectors as children.
They evoke the illusion of being in nature.
Please enjoy a relaxing break time (snack time) between work while feeling nature with the small animals drawn in maki-e on the small plate.

The plate has a high stand so that the stones do not touch the maki-e and give impact when stacked on top of each other.
The stone is Okachi stone from the town of Okachi, Miyagi Prefecture, famous for its inkstone. It is relatively soft among stones and has the disadvantage of cracking easily when impacted, but it also has a heat-retaining effect.
It is also feasible to taste the jelly while it is still cold on a plate chilled in a refrigerator.
