The NARADOLLHIGASHIDA Hiina Asobi Series constitutes the second volume in modernizing the expression of Hiina Asobi from the Tale of Genji, the origin of Hinamatsuri. This set comprises Ouchiura-sama and San-nin Kanjo (three courtesans), elegantly housed in an adorable octagonal paulownia box.

The scarlet red color, while a fundamental hue, exudes universal beauty. Conceptually, NARADOLLHIGASHIDA is entirely handmade, employing the Nara Itto-bori technique. This method derives its name from the artist's spirit engraved into each sword.

It involves bold carving on large wood surfaces, followed by delicate coloring using Japanese paints and gold leaf. Originating 800 years ago in Nara, Nara Itto-bori carving attained artistic eminence during the Edo period (1603-1868) under master craftsman Morikawa Toen. Renowned Japanese sculptor Hirakushi Tanaka revered Toen's work, amassing a collection of Nara Itto-bori carvings.

NARADOLLHIGASHIDA meticulously reexamines Nara Itto-bori carving, seeking its original form that once enriched people's daily lives, harmonizing it with modern aesthetics through thoughtful design integration.
