Tango-no Sekku, an ancient festival celebrated in Japan, signifies an enduring bond between parents and children. NARADOLLHIGASHIDA embodies a fully handmade concept. The technique employed is Nara Itto-bori (Nara Itto carving), named for the soul poured into each sword.

This method involves bold carving on the surface of large wood from trees, followed by delicate coloring using Japanese paints and gold leaf. Nara Itto-bori carving, a tradition persevering in Nara for 800 years, ascended to an art form during the Edo period (1603-1868) through master craftsman Morikawa Toen. Renowned Japanese sculptor Hirakushi Tanaka, profoundly impressed by Toen's work, amassed a collection of Nara Itto-bori carvings.

NARADOLLHIGASHIDA reexamines Nara Itto-bori carving, aiming to revive its original form, once an integral part of people's lives, harmonizing it with modern design.
