Using the motif of a stream in the mountains.
The motif was expressed using various ceramic techniques such as underglaze painting, overglaze painting, gilding, mud plaster, pasting, carving, etc.
The material is porcelain and handmade by rokuro molding.
Mud plaster is applied to the entire surface, and a design is added.
The gilded part is covered with iron rust, and the other parts are painted with underglaze colors, then unglazed,
After unglazing, the colored areas are masked off and colored with porcelain.
The thin glass glaze is applied and fired at 1260℃ in reduction firing.
After firing, gold glaze is applied and fired at 800℃.
Porcelain is often perceived as cooler than ceramics, but the techniques used to produce porcelain can make it warmer and more interesting,
However, it can be made to look warmer and more interesting depending on the technique.

Tou Tsuchiyama

The original brand of potter Keiji Tsuchiyama, Tou Tsuchiyama. The first generation of pottery was established in Higashiyama, Kyoto, by the first-generation potter from Terai, Nomi City, Ishikawa Prefecture, in the Taisho Era (1912-1926) and has continued for three to five generations.

Since the first generation, the kiln has specialized in underglaze blue and red porcelain. The pottery has earned the trust of the pottery industry for its precise work in Shozui, landscape, flower-and-bird, and other designs. Tsuchiyama has been producing beautiful and easy-to-use vessels based on this tradition.

Our pottery is not monotonous, heavy pieces made by mold making or machine crocheting. Our "usuzukuri" vessels are handmade using Kyoto Kiyomizuyaki techniques and are comfortable to hold in the hand. Our pottery is easy to use, suitable for any kind of food, and pursues beauty. We produce a wide variety of designs that can be used for everyday use or as gifts.
