This is a high-grade stewing bowl made of carefully selected zelkova and finished with hard materials.
The base is made of real hard material, and hemp cloth is painted on the surface to increase the strength of the wood.
It can be used immediately because it has a long shelf life after being painted and the smell of lacquer has been removed.
The maki-e is a modernized version of a motif by Chokan Sano, a Kyoto painter of the Kansei period (1615-1644).
There are five types of maki-e designs: pine, bamboo and plum arabesque maki-e, Shoboji maki-e, chrysanthemum maki-e, dancing paulownia maki-e, and long-tailed bird maki-e (Zuidori).
The outside is done in black Urushi lacquer and the inside is done in black lacquer.
