KIKOF ceramics were born in Shigaraki
Shigaraki clay has a rough texture, simple, warm, and unique. Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, was located further south than its present location 2 to 3 million years ago. Shigaraki ware is made from the clay of that old Lake Biwa layer.
We use traditional Bizen pottery techniques, one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, dating back to the Kamakura period, but our unique manufacturing method, adapted to the modern way of life, makes it microwavable and ovenproof.
The vessels are carefully crafted in the image of those used by demons in ancient times.
