About the material:
The area of Palestine is the origin of the olive tree, and its cultivation dates back to ancient times (some trees are thousands of years old). The olive harvest takes place every fall, after which the trees are pruned to ensure their health. The pruned branches and trunks are then provided to wood suppliers and transformed into a variety of crafts and daily necessities.
About the creators:
"Holy Land Handicrafts Cooperatives Society" Established to protect local traditional crafts and artisans from the global economy, it is the oldest member organization of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) in the Middle East. Collaborating with small workshops and an office that serves as a window to the rest of the world, the society guarantees the livelihood of approximately 2,000 people. Bridging Chopsticks purchases its products by communicating directly with Amira in the office.
The situation in Palestine:

On the other hand, it is an occupied territory, and ordinary citizens living there are not guaranteed basic rights. Road checks make it challenging to move around town, and traveling abroad is not easy. Due to the occupation, it is not always safe to go to school or work. Despite these circumstances, we believe that connecting through fair trade and being able to communicate with each other's perspectives will lead to grassroots peace.
About daily handling:
Do not soak the product in water for an extended period; dry it well in a well-ventilated place after washing. Avoid using a dishwasher, microwave oven, oven, or any other appliance with high temperature fluctuations. Refrain from using strong synthetic detergents or hard sponges as they may damage this natural material. Do not apply excessive force, and avoid using the dish for cooking with dark or oily food to prevent color migration or oil stains on the wood.
Care from time to time:
When the surface of the wood becomes fluffy, apply cooking oil to restore the wood's luster. If the surface is chipped or scratched, polish it with fine sandpaper (#300~400) and then apply oil. Amani oil and walnut oil dry quickly; if the surface is sticky, allow it to dry for a while.
Enjoy aging:
Olive wood is resistant to mold and bacteria. The wood breathes, shrinks, and sometimes cracks as it ages. Please enjoy these characteristics of the wood, and we hope you will use it for a long time.
