About the material:
The area of Palestine is the origin of the olive tree, and the history of its cultivation dates back to B.C. (some of the trees are several thousand years old). The olive harvest takes place every fall, after which the trees are pruned to ensure their health. The pruned branches and trunks are given to wood suppliers and transformed into a variety of crafts and daily necessities. Due to its valuable nature, even small pieces of wood are processed in this way or used for fuel in the winter.

About the creators:
"Holy Land Handicrafts Cooperatives Society" Established to protect local traditional crafts and artisans from the global economy, the society is the oldest member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) in the Middle East. Collaborating with small workshops and an office that serves as a window to the rest of the world, the society guarantees the livelihood of approximately 2,000 people. Bridging Chopsticks buys its products by communicating directly with Amira in the office.

The situation in Palestine:
Palestine is a place with a deep history and warm people, and once you visit, you will want to go back (Diary of my stay: https://note.com/kakehashi_pale/m/m70c26db08307). We believe that connecting through fair trade with people who continue to protect their traditional work and activities even under occupation, and having their culture transcend national borders, will lead to grassroots peace.
